  • Should I always go with the contractor who provides the lowest estimate?

    No, if a contractor bids too low it may be a sign of an inexperience and/or poor ethics.  The contractor may try to charge more from you unexpectedly in the middle of a project or cut corners to save time and material costs.  Like most things in life, if it is too good to be true then it probably is.  In this tough economy, many homeowners are choosing to save money by hiring the local handyman without the proper licensing and insurance.  Most local “handymen” or “Fly by Night” contractors are not running a legitimate business.  Most importantly for the homeowner, they usually do not carry the proper insurance.  A contractor’s General liability policies protects the homeowner.  If a construction project causes damage to a home, the homeowner is covered under the policy.  If a contractor or his employee is hurt on the job, the homeowner is protected under the liability policy.   Another pitfall with these types of contractors is they may abandon the job before it is complete or not honor their warranty.   For example, a homeowner tries to call up the roofer to fix his work and the roofer is out of business, left town, or refuses to honor the guarantee.  Promax Construction has been in business for over 19 years and we understand the importance and value of our reputation.  We are a licensed roofer, which means our ethics and performance are regulated by the state of Illinois.   In summary, if you receive a very low bid from a local handyman, his overhead may be a lot lower because he is not paying the costs to protect his customers.  Always make sure to ask for proof of insurance and other credentials.

  • What is the timeline for the project?

    Timelines vary based on the service requested by the homeowner.  We will do our best to approximate the construction time when we meet with you for an estimate.  We have a large network of carpenters, roofers, plumbers, electricians, masons, painters and concrete installers.  We are able to accommodate a large volume of business and should have no issues finishing your project in a reasonable time frame.  Our team has the experience and ability to work fast and efficiently.

  • What are your warranties?

    We offer a standard 5 year workmanship warranty on all of our work.  The workmanship warranty protects the homeowner from installation issues and poor craftsmanship.   Most contractors offer a 1 year workmanship warranty. We are confident in our work and believe it getting things done right the first time.  Our suppliers offer extended warranties for their materials.  We offer a very competitive 50 year warranty on Certainteed shingles.  Some of our window suppliers offer lifetime warranties.  These warranties are maintained and honored by the suppliers of the construction materials.

  • How do I initiate a project?

    Call us at 217-424-8900 and we will set up a free appointment to meet you at the job site for an estimate.  You can also email us at info@promaxconstruction.com.  For most cases, our estimators will complete the bid at the appointment.  You can decide to move forward at the appointment, or let us know at a later time when you feel comfortable signing off on the contract.
